I Am Hardwell documentary
In December 2010, I was asked to film a local DJ. That evening ended up in a five-year journey around the world, resulting in two worldwide screened feature-length documentaries, 'I Am Hardwell - If you can dream it, you can do it' (2013) and 'I Am Hardwell - Living the Dream' (2015).
A one-of-a-kind experience that changed my life while touching down on every continent and watching this local DJ become the world's two times number one DJ. Planes, trains, cars, tour busses, private jets, airports, hotels…
Breakfast in India, lunch in Vietnam, and dinner in Australia. Police escorts, stadiums filled with tens of thousands of people, doing shows in countries that had never done a concert before. A rollercoaster ride of unprecedented proportion.
After filming, we jumped into post-production for weeks in a row. Hopping from studio to studio and finally seeing everything come together in the Dolby Mastering Theater was a delightful experience.
Along the way, we did lots of test viewings with the team, friends, and of course, Hardwell in a small movie theater to see if we were on the right track.
Eventually, everything fell into place, resulting in an 85-minute film with its red carpet premiere in Holland's oldest and most prestigious movie theatre, Tuschinski in Amsterdam.
