Freelance Music Video Editor for Music Artists, Labels & Directors

I'm Robin Piree, a freelance music video editor and director with over a decade of experience in filmmaking.

I help artists, record labels, directors, and production companies turn their footage into finished music videos, from performance-driven edits to narrative films and live music content.

I'm based in Dubai and work remotely with clients worldwide.

Whether you've just wrapped a shoot or already have footage waiting to be edited, I'd love to hear what you're working on.

Music Video Editing With a Director's Perspective

I've spent more than ten years working across music videos, documentaries, commercials, and short films, often taking projects from the initial idea all the way through post-production.

During that time, I've worked with international artists, labels, and production teams on projects of different sizes and creative styles.

That experience influences the way I edit.

Because I've also directed music videos, I understand what happens before the footage reaches the editing room. I know how much planning, time, and money can go into getting a particular shot, and how important it is to make those shots work together in the finished film.

For me, good music video editing isn't about cutting on every beat or adding effects to make something look exciting.

It's about understanding the music, finding the strongest moments in the footage, and bringing everything together in a way that feels right for the artist and the song.

Selected Editing Work

Every project brings a different creative challenge. Here are a few examples of projects I've personally edited.

Hardwell ft. Jonathan Mendelsohn — Echo

Music Video | Director & Editor

For Hardwell's Echo, I directed and edited a narrative music video filmed in the snowy mountains of Bulgaria.

The film combines Jonathan Mendelsohn's performance with a story about love, loss, and memory.

With unpredictable weather and several storylines filmed across different locations, the edit was where everything had to come together. My job was to connect the performances and narrative scenes into one cohesive film that worked with the emotion and progression of the track.

I Am Hardwell — Documentary Films

Music Documentaries | Director & Editor

I directed and edited two feature-length documentaries about DJ Hardwell.

These projects involved working with footage from different cameras, locations, performances, and moments behind the scenes.

Editing longer-form music documentaries taught me a great deal about finding structure in large amounts of material, building emotional sequences, and knowing when the best decision is to let a moment play out rather than cut away.

It's an approach I still bring to shorter music-led projects.

Ilias 'The Blade' Bulaid

Short Film | Writer, Director & Editor

For this cinematic portrait of MMA fighter Ilias Bulaid, I worked with a scripted voice-over, carefully planned imagery, and an original musical score.

Although it's a short film rather than a traditional music video, the relationship between sound, picture, and pacing was central to the edit.

It's a good example of the kind of visual storytelling I enjoy: using the edit to give images meaning rather than relying on fast cuts alone.

Music Video Editing Services

I offer freelance editing for music videos and music-related projects, working with existing footage or collaborating with the creative team throughout post-production.

Performance & Narrative Music Videos

Whether your video features an artist performing to camera, a scripted storyline, or a combination of both, I can help shape the footage into a finished edit.

That might mean finding the strongest performance takes, building a story across different scenes, or experimenting with pacing and transitions until everything feels connected.

Some songs benefit from energetic editing. Others need a more restrained approach.

The goal is to find what works for the music, rather than force a particular editing style onto it.

Live Performance & Concert Films

Live music brings its own challenges.

Working with concert and performance footage often means bringing together different camera angles, syncing performances, and capturing the atmosphere of an event.

I also work on artist documentaries and behind-the-scenes content that gives audiences a closer look at the people and stories behind the music.

Social Media & Promotional Edits

Beyond the main video, I can also help create shorter edits for social platforms, teasers, and promotional content.

If you need additional versions for a release campaign, we can discuss the formats and deliverables when planning the project.

Already Have Footage? I Can Take It From Here.

You don't need to hire me to direct your music video to work with me as an editor.

If you've already completed production, I can come on board during post-production and work with footage captured by your director, cinematographer, or production company.

Some projects arrive with a detailed treatment, storyboard, and clear creative direction. Others are more open-ended and need a fresh perspective in the editing room.

I'm comfortable working with both.

Before starting, I'll take time to understand the song, the footage, the creative references, and what you're hoping to achieve.

If you're a director or creative producer, I'm equally happy working closely with you throughout the editing process.

How My Music Video Editing Process Works

Every project is different, but I generally approach the editing process in three stages.

1. The Brief & Footage

We start by discussing the project.

I'll want to understand the music, the creative direction, the available footage, your references, and any important release deadlines.

You can share a treatment, storyboard, rough assembly, or simply explain what you have in mind.

I'll review the scope of the work and we can agree on a quote, schedule, and deliverables before editing begins.

2. The First Cut & Feedback

Once the footage is organised, I'll start building the edit in Adobe Premiere Pro.

Depending on the project, this might involve syncing performance footage, finding the strongest takes, developing the narrative structure, or experimenting with different approaches to the material.

When the first cut is ready, I'll share it for review.

You, your director, or your creative team can provide feedback, and we'll work through the changes needed to move the edit forward.

3. Refinement & Final Delivery

After the initial feedback, I'll refine the cut until we're ready for approval.

From there, we'll prepare the agreed final deliverables.

If the project requires specialist colour grading, visual effects, sound finishing, or additional promotional versions, we'll establish how those elements fit into the post-production workflow.

Remote Music Video Editing — Available Worldwide

I'm based in Dubai, but you don't need to be in the same country to work with me.

As a remote freelance music video editor, I collaborate with artists, labels, directors, and production companies internationally.

Footage can be transferred digitally, and reviews and feedback can take place online.

Whether your team is in Los Angeles, London, Amsterdam, Dubai, or somewhere else entirely, we can organise a workflow around the project and its deadlines.

For me, the important part isn't where everyone is sitting.

It's making sure we're working towards the same creative result.

Music Video Editing Rates & Pricing

My standard freelance editing rate is $1,000 USD per day.

I also offer project-based quotes, depending on the scope of the edit.

The total cost of editing a music video depends on several factors, including the amount of footage, creative complexity, expected editing time, revision rounds, and final deliverables.

A straightforward performance video may require a very different amount of work from a narrative music video involving multiple locations, storylines, and visual effects.

Before we start, I'll review your brief and discuss what the project needs so we can agree on a realistic budget and schedule.

If you're working towards a fixed release date or have a specific budget in mind, feel free to mention that in your enquiry.
